About Me

My name is Michelle Murphy and I am a Program Manager at Microsoft.

I joined Microsoft three years ago as part of a two year accelerated growth rotation program for recent college graduates – Microsoft Academy of College Hires (MACH IT). I have been an active member of the community since I joined, helping to onboard new hires into the program and also participating in alumni engagement events such as coaching and Q&A sessions.

I spent two years working in the Dublin office as part of MACH IT. During this time I worked on two different remote teams in areas such as process improvement and helping to land new internal capabilities and processes to Microsoft employees in the Middle East and Africa. In May 2016, I moved to Seattle to join a new team that builds internal applications for Microsoft employees all around the world.

I have a bachelors degree in Computer Science from University College Cork, Ireland where I spent four years learning how to code in languages such as Java and PHP. I eventually realized that my true passion lies in planning and organizing and so I moved more towards program management.

At work, I love working with stakeholders to map out a vision for a project and working with developers to build this vision that hopefully, surprises and delights our customers. I am a certified Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) and I have helped build and add new functionality to a variety of internal applications in this role.

In my spare time, you can usually find me knitting, planning my trip around the world, getting lost around Seattle or reading.
